Applying for BAPS in 2025: schedule

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the portal will open in early May 2025 and we recommend that students from abroad plan to apply in the first week of May 2025 to receive early admission and expedite the visa process. The deadline for early bird admission is May 11, 2025. Any applications received by May 11, 2025 will receive acceptance by end of May 2025.

The regular admissions timeline is as follows: applications will be received until July 15, 2025; results will be communicated by early August 2025.

Please note that we do not accept new students in the summer term; the next admissions period is for the 2025/2026 academic year starting in the winter term.

The new BAPS cohort (welcome!) has been undertaking excursions as part of the class Colloquium Text, Book and Culture, taught by BAPS program leader Professor Norrick-Rühl. This week, the group visited the university’s Bible Museum, which has a replica printing press. The students were given a hands-on introduction to early modern printing, including the opportunity to print their own sheet.

The Hotspots lecture series takes place every winter semester, highlighting current research across the English Department. The 2023-2024 lecture series begins on 18 October.

The Guest Lectures in American Studies Münster (GLAM) lecture series will take place over the 2023 summer term. Further information about the lectures and registration links can be found here.

Students from the BAPS and NTS programmes participated in a zine-making workshop led by Dr Louisa Preston and organized by the Chair of Book Studies. Students interested in zines can also visit the Mini Zine Library, located on the second floor of the English Department library.

Book Studies is one of the three core study areas that make up the MA BAPS program, and the WWU is the only university in Germany to offer Book Studies with an Anglophone focus. Visit the Book Studies website here to learn more.

This November, a launch event was held to celebrate the fourth volume of Satura, a journal for creative and academic writing founded and run by students of the English Department of the WWU. The editorial team is made up of students from the BAPS and NTS programmes. To learn more, visit the Satura website and read Volume 4 online at this link.

The annual MA BAPS & MA NTS reception, held in November, was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate graduating students, and for past and present students of both programmes to meet each other.

This October, a group of higher-semester students from the MA BAPS and NTS programmes had the opportunity to spend a day at the Frankfurt Book Fair, one of the most important international events in the world of publishing.

It was wonderful to have past and present MA BAPS and NTS students come together at the Aasee in Münster to celebrate the end of the lecture period.

Recently, first-semester BAPS students had to opportunity to visit the university's Rare Books Reading Room and view early printed books first-hand. This visit was offered as part of the introductory Book Studies course Text, Book and Culture, in which students address the role of books and texts in cultural history. Book Studies is one of the three core study areas that make up the MA BAPS program, and the WWU is the only university in Germany to offer Book Studies with an Anglophone focus.
